This week's new releases: Skip Liam Neeson's "Marlowe" and watch "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" instead.

As Kang the Conqueror in the most recent "Ant-Man" movie, Jonathan Majors debuts this weekend in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Oscar-nominated actor Liam Neeson portrays noir detective Philip Marlowe in a Hollywood period mystery, and Emma Mackey plays Emily Bront in a 19th-century romantic drama that fictionalises the making of the English author's greatest (and only!) hit.

These films are for readers who prefer classic novels to comic books.

Here's a list of fresh films for every taste in cinema, along with several notable theatrical releases making their streaming and on-demand debuts:

If you're looking for a superb Marvel supervillain, check out Quantumania from Ant-Man and the Wasp.

2015's first "Ant-Man" was a smart and incredibly entertaining heist movie.

However, those times are long gone. The third film, which stars Paul Rudd as a shrinking superhero who unwittingly drags his family into the bizarre and subatomic Quantum Realm, is much more of a standard Marvel adventure.

There is still plenty of the trademark playfulness, but more significantly, Majors' imposing and menacing Kang is worth the entry charge.
